The Globe theatre was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company and this was the place where Shakespeare's most famous plays took place throughout his life. The plays that were performed at the Globe theatre were Julius Caesar which had 15 actors and took place in 1599, The building had three stories of seating for viewing and could hold about 3000 spectators, At the base of the stage was an area called “the pit” which held people who paid just a penny to stand and watch a performance, but in modern plays and performances the cost is higher to be closer to the stage and it is seen as more of a privilege then it did in shakespeare's time. The theatre was burnt down on June the 29th, 1613 when a cannon was fired that burnt the building to the ground but was soon rebuilt a year later to continue Shakespeare's fame. In 1642 theatres across all of England including the globe theatre were closed down as was they were seen as a place of evil and sin, the Globe theatre was destroyed and replaced by housing and Shakespeare's fame.
